Proposal: Upgrade the existing communications and health monitoring system in the Light Utility Helicopter (LUH-72) with a digital, lightweight, beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS), Push-to-talk (PTT) radio, with Voice of Internet (VoIP) and real-time fleet health monitoring, recording and next generation satellite communications system.
Recommendation: CRITICAL NEED FOR SUPPORT- Upgrade the existing communications and health monitoring system in the Light Utility Helicopter (LUH-72) with a digital, lightweight, comprehensive, connected aircraft system. The device shall provide accurate, timely and effective asset communications and tracking, field and fleet management solutions and extensive computer-aided dispatch integration to meet current and emerging Homeland Defense and Domestic Response Requirements and fill ARNG Aviation Modernization Gaps. The system shall provide real-time aircraft tracking. Satellite data connection shall provide for Push-to-talk (PTT) radio, with Voice over Internet (VoIP) and real-time fleet health monitoring, recording and next generation satellite communications system. Communications shall be secured by 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES256) to avoid cyber threats. The system shall provide WIFI for connecting carry on devices to critical data sources.
STATES IMPACTED – 49 of the 54 States/Territories with Lakotas, and “WATTS” Western Army National Guard Aviation Training Site.
MISSION CRITICAL NEED - The device shall provide critical maintenance and operational data, easily consumable from a fleet perspective. This will provide insight useful for training and maintenance planning. The system shall allow immediate communication air-to-ground, ground-to-air or air-to-air within the entire system. This system in the civilian EC145 has brought focus and maximized training time, predictive maintenance and has vastly improved readiness rates.
